The short version: we collect the minimum needed to run the app. Your location is read only while you are using Nowly; we never store your coordinates (except the pin of a new place you add by hand, rounded to about 100 m) or track you in the background. For each moment you post, we keep the place and the day (the exact time only for the first eight weeks). Lobby voice is live, and Nowly does not record or store it, even when someone files a report. Moments go after 4 hours (up to 24 for VIP members, as they choose), chat photos after 24 hours, and messages after seven days. We never sell your data, there are no ads, and you can delete your account from inside the app.

باختصار: نجمع الحدّ الأدنى اللازم لتشغيل التطبيق. ولا يُقرأ موقعك إلا أثناء استخدامك Nowly، ولا نحفظ إحداثياتك (إلا دبّوس مكانٍ جديد تضيفه بنفسك، مقرّبًا إلى نحو 100 متر) ولا نتتبّعك في الخلفية أبدًا. ولكل لحظةٍ تنشرها نحفظ المكان واليوم (ووقتها بالدقيقة أول ثمانية أسابيع فقط). وصوت اللوبي مباشر، ولا يسجّله Nowly ولا يخزّنه، سواء قُدّم بلاغ أم لا. وتذهب اللحظات بعد 4 ساعات (وحتى 24 ساعة لمشتركي VIP حسب اختيارهم)، وصور المحادثة بعد 24 ساعة، والرسائل بعد سبعة أيام. ولا نبيع بياناتك أبدًا، ولا إعلانات، ويمكنك حذف حسابك من داخل التطبيق.

Who we are

من نحن

Nowly is operated by JAZIPLACE Software and Online Platforms (commercial registration no. 201558-1) in the Kingdom of Bahrain, at Building 1495, Road 924, Block 1209, Hamad Town. Its field of activity is software and online platforms; Nowly is an app for moments from places and for live voice lobbies. Throughout this policy, "we" and "us" refer to the operator of Nowly, and "you" refers to anyone using the Nowly app.

يُشغّل Nowly جازيبليس للبرمجيات والمنصات الإلكترونية (سجل تجاري رقم 201558-1) في مملكة البحرين، وعنوانه: مبنى 1495، طريق 924، مجمع 1209، مدينة حمد. ومجال نشاطه البرمجيات والمنصات الإلكترونية؛ وNowly تطبيق للحظات الأماكن ولوبيات الصوت المباشر. وحيثما وردت كلمة «نحن» في هذه السياسة فالمقصود مشغّل Nowly، وحيثما وردت كلمة «أنت» فالمقصود كل من يستخدم تطبيق Nowly.

Nowly is used around the world (it is not offered in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom), and this policy applies wherever you use it. If you live in the UK, California or elsewhere, see Nowly around the world for the rights you have there.

Video stories you record: a clip of 2 to 25 seconds, recorded live with the camera only (never from your library or files), with its sound — the microphone is on only while you hold to record — and a still poster taken from its first frame	To show them as stories, the same way as a photo moment. Which lobbies you visited and on which days, and how long you spend in lobbies each day — totals, never what you say. Jewels: the Jewels that reach you when someone sends you a gift, and what you spend them on	To keep your Jewels balance and let you spend it on what is sold for gold coins. Jewels are a second balance beside your gold coins: they are not money, are not sold, cannot be cashed out or turned into gold coins, and do not count towards VIP	Deleted with your account. Nowly Plus, if you subscribe: your plan, its status and period dates, whether it renews, and Apple's transaction numbers; your Plus settings (incognito browsing, quiet entry, hiding «seen»); up to five friends you choose as favourites; and the chat backgrounds you choose	To give you what you subscribed to, to add the 1,500 gold coins of each paid month, and to switch the features off when the subscription ends. Apple never gives us your card details. «Your stats» (a week of visits, who engages with you most, your audience's busy hours) are worked out from data already listed in this table and are not stored separately. A favourite is never told: when one of them comes into an open public lobby you get a quiet alert, unless they hide their activity, entered quietly, are under 18, or you are no longer mutual friends. When a subscriber takes an empty mic directly, it is noted in that lobby's moderation log	Deleted with your account. When a subscription ends, the features stop and your settings, favourites and backgrounds stay saved, unused, in case you come back. About your location

This is the part that matters most, so we will be exact. Nowly asks for location permission "while using the app", never "always". The app reads your location only while it is open: to confirm you are inside the venue when you post, to confirm you are at the place when you enter a location lobby, and to find what is near you when you open Near you. We never store your coordinates — except when you add a new place by hand: its pin is saved at your position rounded to about 100 m, as the place's location. With permission granted, Nowly also uses your approximate location to sort what's near you while you browse. We never track you in the background. For each moment you post, we keep the place, its country and the day — the moment itself is already public. The exact time is kept for the first eight weeks, and after that only the day. That record is used for your badges and the «regulars» mark, and it is deleted with your account.

When Nowly checks your location, it keeps the result of the check — how accurate the fix was, whether it looked simulated, how old it was and the verdict — but never the coordinates. It is kept for 30 days, to stop fake locations and fraud, and is deleted with your account.

Near you uses your location when you open it, once — approximate location is enough — and shows moments from people who posted within 30 km of you, in your country. It works from the venue each moment was posted from, and shows only the distance or the place — never anyone's live location, including yours.

Lobbies. Public and private lobbies never ask for your location and never show one. Only a location lobby does: your location is checked when you enter, and our server compares it with the place's boundary. Once you are inside, you stay even if you move; if you leave and come back, it is checked again. The check is all it is used for. Taking a moment and entering a location lobby need your precise location: if Precise Location is off, your phone asks you once to allow it for that time.

Regulars. Post from the same place on 15 different days within 30 days and you become one of its regulars for 15 days. In Settings, under Privacy, you choose — place by place — whether that shows to people or stays yours alone.

The app contains no background location code. iOS requires an app to declare background location use in its configuration, and Nowly does not.

Your profile and who sees it

Your followers count is public. The list of your followers, and the list of who you follow with its count, are visible only to you.
يظهر عدد متابعيك للجميع. أمّا قائمة متابعيك، وقائمة من تتابعهم وعددهم، فلا يراها غيرك.
A private account shows people who do not follow you only the basics — your name, photo, bio and followers count. Moments, gifts, badges and your lobby stay hidden until you accept them.
يُظهر الحساب الخاص لمن لا يتابعك الأساسيات فقط — اسمك وصورتك ونبذتك وعدد متابعيك. وتبقى اللحظات والهدايا والشارات ولوبيك مخفية حتى تقبل المتابعة.

Profile visits

We record visits to a profile (who came and when) so we can show them to the profile's owner according to their account type. We keep them for 30 days, or 90 days when the profile's owner is a Nowly Plus member, then they are deleted. We do not record visits by people under 18, nor visits to their profiles. A Nowly Plus member can stop their own visits from being recorded with incognito browsing.

A visit is one record per visitor, per profile, per day. How much of the list you can read depends on your account: without VIP or Nowly Plus you see only how many people visited and roughly when (today, yesterday, this week or earlier), with no names and no photos; with VIP you see the names of visitors who are not VIP themselves; with Nowly Plus you see every visitor. In the same way, when you open someone's profile they may see that you visited, depending on their plan. Nobody is notified of a visit, and the record is never used for tracking.

If you use the features of Nowly Plus we keep what they need: your list of favourites (never shown to the people on it), the chat backgrounds you chose (shown only to you) and your Plus settings. Your stats are worked out from your activity and the visits to your profile inside Nowly, and never show the content of any message.

By default, only mutual friends — people you follow who also follow you — can message you. In Settings, "Who can message me" lets you choose Mutual friends or Everyone. With Everyone, a first message from someone you don't follow each other with waits in Message requests, text only, until you accept it. Links cannot be sent in messages.

افتراضيًّا، لا يراسلك إلا أصدقاؤك المتبادلون — من تتابعهم ويتابعونك. ومن «الإعدادات» يتيح لك خيار «من يستطيع مراسلتي» أن تختار الأصدقاء المتبادلين أو الجميع. ومع «الجميع» تنتظر أول رسالة ممن لا تتبادل معه المتابعة في «طلبات الرسائل»، نصًّا فقط، حتى تقبلها. ولا تُرسل الروابط في الرسائل.

Messages and voice messages are deleted after seven days. Not archived, not hidden — removed. The conversation stays in your list so you can write again.

Chat photos come from the camera, or from one photo you pick with your phone's photo picker (Nowly sees only the photo you pick, never your library). They are checked on your phone like any other photo, and are deleted after 24 hours.

View-once photos. Where this feature is available, a camera photo can be sent to be opened once. Only the person it was sent to can open it, and only once: it is shown for 3, 5 or 10 seconds, or until they close it, and it is then deleted from our storage. If it is never opened it is deleted after 24 hours, and a reported one is held for review as described under Reports. Nowly tries to block screenshots while the photo is shown, but no app can fully prevent a screenshot or a photo of the screen taken with another device, so send only what you are comfortable sharing.

You can delete a message for everyone within 15 minutes of sending it (not a gift, and not after it has been reported), or hide any message just for yourself. Hiding a message you received does not delete it, so you can still report it. With Nowly Plus you can also edit a written message within 15 minutes of sending it (up to 10 times), delete it for everyone for up to 24 hours, and hide «seen», so the other person is not shown when you have read their messages.
Edited and deleted messages. When you edit a message, or delete one for everyone, the other person only sees «edited» or «deleted». But our servers keep the earlier written text, so that a report can be judged on what was really written. Only the text is copied: a deleted photo or voice message is removed at once and is not kept. The copy is never shown in the app, to you or to the other person; it is read only to review a report or to answer a lawful order, and only by the Nowly team. It stays with the message and goes with it, seven days after the message was sent. If the message, or you, are reported, the copy is saved with the report and kept as described under Reports. A message that has been reported can no longer be edited or deleted.

الرسائل المعدّلة والمحذوفة. حين تعدّل رسالة، أو تحذف واحدة عند الجميع، لا يرى الطرف الآخر إلا «معدّلة» أو «محذوفة». لكن خوادمنا تحتفظ بالنص المكتوب قبل ذلك، ليُحكم على البلاغ بما كُتب فعلًا. ويُنسخ النص وحده: أما الصورة أو الرسالة الصوتية المحذوفة فتُزال فورًا ولا تُحفظ. ولا تُعرض هذه النسخة في التطبيق، لك ولا للطرف الآخر؛ ولا تُقرأ إلا لمراجعة بلاغ أو للرد على أمر قانوني، ولا يقرؤها إلا فريق Nowly. وتبقى مع الرسالة وتزول معها بعد سبعة أيام من إرسالها. فإن بُلِّغ عن الرسالة أو عنك، حُفظت النسخة مع البلاغ وبقيت بالمدة المذكورة في «البلاغات». والرسالة التي بُلِّغ عنها لا يمكن تعديلها ولا حذفها.
Read receipts and «typing…» work both ways: if you turn one off, they don't see yours and you don't see theirs.
إشعار القراءة و«يكتب…» متبادلان: إن أطفأت أحدهما لا يرون ما عندك ولا ترى ما عندهم.
Hidden words are kept with your account so they work on all your devices. They only hide comments from you; the writer is not told.

We don't browse your messages. We may view a conversation when needed to investigate a report, protect someone's safety, or respond to a legal request.

لا نتصفّح رسائلك. قد نطّلع على محادثة عند الحاجة للتحقيق في بلاغ، أو لحماية سلامة الأشخاص، أو لطلبٍ نظامي.

Lobbies

اللوبي

A lobby is a live room with text chat and voice. There are three kinds: public, private (with a secret number) and location (for people at the place — see About your location).

اللوبي غرفة مباشرة فيها دردشة كتابية وصوت. وهو ثلاثة أنواع: عام، وخاص (برقم سرّي)، ولوكيشن (لمن في المكان — انظر «عن موقعك»).

Voice is live. Nowly does not record or store lobby audio, whether or not someone files a report. Voice is relayed through our hosting provider's real-time network to the people in the lobby. The microphone is used only while you have your mic on.
الصوت مباشر، ولا يسجّل Nowly صوت اللوبي ولا يخزّنه، سواء قُدّم بلاغ أم لا. ويُنقل الصوت عبر شبكة مزوّد الاستضافة للاتصال المباشر إلى من في اللوبي. ولا يُستخدم الميكروفون إلا ومايكك مفتوح.
Leaving the app. If you are on a mic seat when you switch to another app or lock your phone, your mic stays as you left it: open if it was open, muted if it was muted. While it is open, iPhone shows its orange microphone indicator, and a card on the lock screen lets you mute it or leave. You keep hearing the lobby for up to one hour, then Nowly leaves the lobby for you. This is the only thing Nowly does in the background, and it applies only to the lobby you are in. It uses no location in the background.

Lobby messages are visible to everyone present; people who arrive later do not see earlier chat. They are kept 6 hours for moderation, then deleted. Lobby photos go when the lobby closes or after 6 hours.
رسائل اللوبي يراها كل الحاضرين، ولا يرى القادمون بعدها ما سبق من الدردشة. وتُحفظ 6 ساعات للإشراف ثم تُحذف. وصور اللوبي تذهب حين يُغلق اللوبي أو بعد 6 ساعات.
Removals. An Owner or Admin can remove someone for 10 minutes, an hour, a day or a week, or ban them from the lobby. A removed or banned person is taken out of the live lobby at once and cannot come back until the term ends or an Owner or Admin pardons them; a ban lasts until it is lifted. We keep that record as the table above says.
الإخراج. يستطيع صاحب اللوبي أو مشرفه إخراج شخص 10 دقائق أو ساعة أو يومًا أو أسبوعًا، أو حظره من اللوبي. ويُخرَج المُخرَج أو المحظور من اللوبي الحيّ فورًا، ولا يعود حتى تنتهي المدّة أو يعفوه صاحب اللوبي أو مشرفه، ويدوم الحظر حتى يُرفع. ونحفظ هذا السجلّ كما في الجدول أعلاه.
Reports. When someone reports a person in a lobby, the report reaches the Nowly team under the reporter's name, and a copy of the reported person's last 30 messages in that lobby, plus 20 messages around the one reported for context (which may include other people's messages), is kept with the report as evidence. The reported person is never told who reported them.
البلاغات. حين يبلّغ أحدهم عن شخص في لوبي، يصل البلاغ إلى فريق Nowly باسم المُبلِّغ، وتُحفظ معه دليلًا نسخةٌ من آخر 30 رسالة كتبها المُبلَّغ عنه في ذلك اللوبي، ومعها 20 رسالة حول الرسالة المُبلَّغ عنها لفهم السياق (وقد تشمل رسائل أشخاص آخرين). ولا يُخبَر المُبلَّغ عنه أبدًا بمن أبلغ عنه.
Moderation. Every action an Owner, an Admin, a volunteer or our team takes in a lobby is logged and reviewed.
Calm mode. A setting that shows a lobby's artwork at half strength: on if you choose it, by itself at night or after a long visit unless you turn it off. It is kept on your phone only and sends nothing to us.
الإشراف. كل إجراء يتخذه صاحب اللوبي أو المشرف أو المتطوّع أو فريقنا في لوبي يُسجَّل ويُراجَع.

Lobbies, including private ones, may be reviewed by the Nowly team. Our team may enter any lobby for safety and to check reports, and every such entry is logged. A team member may enter a lobby for safety without appearing in the list of people present; every such entry is logged too. A hidden entry and its reason are kept for 180 days after it ends, even if that team member's account is deleted.

قد يراجع فريق Nowly اللوبيات، ومنها الخاصة. إذ يجوز لفريقنا دخول أي لوبي للسلامة وللتحقّق من البلاغات، ويُسجَّل كل دخول من هذا النوع. وقد يدخل أحد أعضاء الفريق اللوبي للسلامة دون أن يظهر في قائمة الحاضرين، ويُسجَّل كل دخول من هذا النوع أيضًا. ويُحفظ الدخول الخفي وسببه 180 يومًا بعد انتهائه، ولو حُذف حساب عضو الفريق.

Lobby voice

صوت اللوبي

We do not record lobbies, and we do not store lobby audio, whether or not someone files a report.

لا نسجّل اللوبيات ولا نخزّن صوتها، سواء قُدّم بلاغ أم لا.

Live only. Lobby voice is relayed live to the people in the lobby and is gone once it has been heard. We keep no copy and no clip of it.
مباشر فقط. يُنقل صوت اللوبي مباشرةً إلى من في اللوبي، ويزول بمجرد سماعه. ولا نحتفظ بنسخة منه ولا بمقطع.
Music. Only a lobby's Owner and Admins can play music, and only songs from the Files app on their own phone. It goes out live from their phone like their voice: we do not upload, record or store the song or its audio on our servers. While it plays, everyone present sees the song's title and artist, which come from the file's own details and are checked for links and blocked words. Only the title, the artist, who is playing and whether it is paused are held while a song plays, and they are cleared when it stops. If the Owner, an Admin, a volunteer or our team stops someone else's music, the stop is written to the lobby's moderation log with the song's title (one year, see the table above). A song reported through «Song issue» is reviewed with the report and the lobby details only, never with a recording of the music.
الموسيقى. لا يشغّل الموسيقى في اللوبي إلا صاحبه ومشرفوه، ومن أغنيات تطبيق «الملفات» في جوالهم فقط. وتخرج مباشرةً من جوالهم كصوتهم: لا نرفع الأغنية ولا صوتها ولا نسجّلها ولا نخزّنها على خوادمنا. وأثناء تشغيلها يرى كل الحاضرين عنوان الأغنية واسم الفنان، وهما من بيانات الملف نفسه ويُفحصان من الروابط والكلمات المحجوبة. ولا يُحتفظ أثناء التشغيل إلا بالعنوان والفنان ومن يشغّل وهل هي متوقفة مؤقتًا، ويُمحى ذلك عند إيقافها. وإذا أوقف المالك أو أحد المشرفين أو متطوّع أو فريقنا موسيقى شخص آخر، سُجّل الإيقاف في سجلّ إشراف اللوبي مع عنوان الأغنية (سنة واحدة، انظر الجدول أعلاه). ويُراجَع البلاغ عن أغنية («أغنية مخالفة») بالبلاغ وبيانات اللوبي فقط، لا بتسجيل للموسيقى.
Reports. A report about a lobby is reviewed using what we do keep: the report itself, the account details of the people involved, and the written lobby messages kept with the report as evidence (see Reports, below, for how long).
البلاغات. يُراجَع البلاغ عن لوبي بما نحتفظ به فعلًا: البلاغ نفسه، وبيانات حسابات المعنيّين، ورسائل اللوبي المكتوبة المحفوظة مع البلاغ دليلًا (انظر «البلاغات» أدناه لمدة الحفظ).
Recordings by other people. Other people in a lobby, or their devices, can record what is said. We cannot prevent that, and we are not responsible for recordings made by users.
تسجيل الآخرين. قد يسجّل أشخاص آخرون في اللوبي، أو أجهزتهم، ما يُقال فيه. ولا نستطيع منع ذلك، ولا نتحمّل مسؤولية التسجيلات التي يجريها المستخدمون.
Voice messages in chats. A voice message you send in a chat is not lobby voice; it is kept for seven days, as described above.

Reports

البلاغات

Normally a moment goes after 4 hours (up to 24 for VIP members) and a message after seven days. When something is reported, it is held instead, so the team has something to review:

Reported content (a moment, comment or message, with its photo or voice) is kept while the report is open and for 30 days after the decision, or longer where needed to prevent abuse, then deleted.
Chats. When a message is reported, a copy of it is saved with the report, with its earlier versions if it was edited or deleted for everyone. When a person is reported and you have a chat with them, a copy of the written messages they sent you in the last 30 days (up to 20) is saved the same way, with their earlier versions. The Nowly team sees these copies in its review tools; the person reported does not. They are kept with the report: while it is open and for 30 days after the decision, or longer where the child-safety and intimate-image rules below apply.
المحتوى المُبلَّغ عنه (لحظة أو تعليق أو رسالة، مع صورتها أو صوتها) يُحفظ ما دام البلاغ مفتوحًا و30 يومًا بعد القرار، أو أطول حيث يلزم لمنع إساءة الاستخدام، ثم يُحذف.

Where we find child exploitation or harm and act on it, the content and the record we make for the competent authorities (the photo and the report details, without your name once your account is deleted) are reported to the competent authorities where required and preserved — even if the account is deleted — for as long as needed for safety and legal purposes, including when the law, a court or an authority requires a hold. They are kept in a separate, protected store that only the person responsible for Nowly can open, and every access is recorded. When they are no longer needed, they are deleted.
وحين نجد استغلالًا لطفل أو أذى له ونتّخذ إجراءً، فإن المحتوى والسجلّ الذي نُعدّه للجهات المختصّة (الصورة وتفاصيل البلاغ، بلا اسمك إن حُذف حسابك) يُبلَّغ عنه للجهات المختصّة حيث يلزم، ويُحفظ — ولو حُذف الحساب — بقدر ما يلزم لأغراض السلامة والأغراض القانونية، ومنها حين يقتضي القانون أو المحكمة أو جهة مختصّة حجزه. ويُحفظ في مخزن منفصل محمي لا يفتحه إلا المسؤول عن Nowly، ويُسجَّل كل اطّلاع عليه. وإذا لم تبقَ حاجة إليه حُذف.
Intimate images without consent, including images made with AI: the first report hides the content at once. If we act on the report, the evidence is kept for 365 days (a year) after the decision, then deleted.
الصور الحميمة بلا موافقة، ومنها المصنوعة بالذكاء الاصطناعي: يُخفي أول بلاغ المحتوى فورًا. وإن اتخذنا إجراءً على البلاغ حُفظ الدليل 365 يومًا (سنة) بعد القرار، ثم يُحذف.
If you delete your account, content held for an ordinary report is deleted with it; child-safety evidence is kept without your name, as described above.
وإن حذفت حسابك حُذف معه المحتوى الممسوك لبلاغ عادي؛ أمّا أدلة سلامة الأطفال فتُحفظ بلا اسمك كما سبق.
Other legal reasons. Beyond the periods in this policy, we keep specific data longer only where the law requires it, or where it is needed to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim, and only for as long as that need lasts.
أسباب قانونية أخرى. خارج المدد المذكورة في هذه السياسة، لا نبقي بيانات محددة مدة أطول إلا حيث يوجب القانون ذلك، أو حيث يلزم لإثبات حق قانوني أو ممارسته أو الدفاع عنه، وبقدر ما تدوم تلك الحاجة فقط.

Required and optional details

البيانات المطلوبة والاختيارية

To join you must give a username, an email address, a password and your birth year. Without them we cannot create your account or keep it secure. The birth year confirms you are 16 or over, sets the protections for ages 16 to 17, and is never shown. Gender is optional. So are a display name, a bio and a profile photo, which appear on your profile, and, for VIP members, the day and month of a birthday. Skipping an optional detail changes nothing about how the app works.

لتنضمّ يلزمك أن تقدّم اسم مستخدم وبريدًا إلكترونيًّا وكلمة مرور وسنة ميلاد. ومن دونها لا نستطيع إنشاء حسابك ولا حمايته. وسنة الميلاد تؤكد أنك 16 فأكثر، وبها تُطبَّق حمايات من هم بين 16 و17، ولا تظهر أبدًا. والجنس اختياري، وكذلك الاسم الظاهر والنبذة وصورة الملف، وتظهر في ملفك الشخصي، وكذلك يوم الميلاد وشهره لأعضاء VIP. وتركُ أيٍّ من البيانات الاختيارية لا يغيّر شيئًا في طريقة عمل التطبيق.

Gender, birth year and country never appear as fields on your profile. We use them to tailor what you see — someone in Bahrain sees Bahrain's trend first, and can switch to any country — and, for gender and country, to understand who uses Nowly, in totals only. The birth year is used only for the age checks and the protections for ages 16 to 17. One more use for gender: Arabic changes a verb for a woman or a man, so if you give your gender, the Arabic app words lines about you to match (for example «دخلت اللوبي» or «دخل اللوبي»), and people reading them may tell.

لا يظهر الجنس ولا سنة الميلاد ولا البلد خانةً في ملفك الشخصي أبدًا. ونستخدمها لتخصيص ما تراه — فمن في البحرين يرى ترند البحرين أوّلًا ويستطيع التبديل إلى أي بلد — ونستخدم الجنس والبلد أيضًا لفهم من يستخدم Nowly بالأعداد الإجمالية فقط. أما سنة الميلاد فلا تُستخدم إلا في فحص العمر وحمايات من هم بين 16 و17. وللجنس استخدام واحد آخر: الفعل في العربية يتغيّر للمرأة والرجل، فإن ذكرت جنسك صاغ التطبيق العربي الجمل التي تخصّك على وفقه (مثل «دخلت اللوبي» أو «دخل اللوبي»)، وقد يفهم ذلك من يقرؤها.

This happens inside Nowly. We never sell these details or hand them to advertisers or anyone else. We ask for a birth year, not a full date of birth, on purpose: a year does not identify you, and it keeps your age right as the years pass. The one exception is optional: a VIP member who adds the day and month of a birthday for the birthday gift gives us a full date. It is used only for that gift, is never shown, and is deleted with your account. You can clear any of them at any time from Settings.

Anything from your photo library except the photos you choose one by one: a profile picture, a photo for a chat or lobby, or a screenshot you send us. Moments come from the camera only. A photo you choose to send in a chat or a lobby comes through your phone's photo picker, which gives Nowly only that photo. When you ask Nowly to save a copy to your phone, it only adds that photo to your Photos and never reads your library

You sign in with your username or email address and a password. We keep the password only as a salted one-way hash (PBKDF2), so no one at Nowly can read it. The codes we email you expire after 10 minutes, and setting a new password signs out every other phone. Your email address is never shown to anyone.

Why we use your data, and your choices

The table above gives the purpose of each item. Each purpose rests on one of these bases:

Direct marketing. We do not use your data for direct marketing, and we send no marketing messages.

Taking your consent back. Wherever you live, you can withdraw a consent at any time. On your iPhone, open Settings, then Nowly, and switch off Location, Camera, Microphone, Photos or Notifications. Optional details can be cleared in Nowly's Settings, and you can delete your account. Withdrawing a consent does not undo what was done before. Any new use of your data that needs your consent will be asked in the app first, before it starts.

سحب موافقتك. أينما كنت تسكن، تستطيع سحب أي موافقة في أي وقت. في iPhone افتح «الإعدادات» ثم Nowly، وأطفئ الموقع أو الكاميرا أو الميكروفون أو الصور أو الإشعارات. وتستطيع مسح البيانات الاختيارية من إعدادات Nowly، وحذف حسابك. وسحب الموافقة لا يلغي ما تم قبلها. وأي استخدام جديد لبياناتك يحتاج موافقتك سنسألك عنه داخل التطبيق أولًا، قبل أن يبدأ.

Complaints. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, write to us first. You may also complain to the Personal Data Protection Authority of the Kingdom of Bahrain, or to the data protection authority where you live.

Nowly shows no ads, so none of your data is used for advertising, and we do not track you across other apps or websites. If that ever changes, we will update this policy and tell you in the app first.

How content is screened

كيف يُفحص المحتوى

Before a moment or a chat photo is uploaded, it is checked on your phone by an open-source image model built into the app. This runs entirely on your phone — a refused photo never leaves it, and we never see it; we are told only that a photo was refused, which counts towards the steps in our Terms. If the phone is not sure, the moment waits for a person on our team before it shows. Captions, comments, messages, lobby messages and profile text are checked on our server against a word list, and any text containing a link is refused, to protect people from scams.

A video story is checked on your phone before it is uploaded: about one frame in every two and a half seconds, plus the first and the last, goes through the same image model. One refused frame refuses the whole video, and it never leaves your phone. A video that arrives without proof that this check ran is held for our team to review before anyone sees it. Our servers check the file itself — its length, size and format — before it is posted. Reports, blocking, private accounts and the retention rules for reports and child-safety records apply to a video exactly as they do to a photo.

If your account is paused or locked, you can ask for a review and choose to send one photo with your request. Only the Nowly team sees it, and it is deleted 30 days after the decision (or after 24 hours if you never send the request).

Camera filters

The camera's colour filters work entirely on your phone. They change colour and tone only, never the shape of anything, and they use no face data. To suggest which group of filters suits what the camera sees, the app uses Apple's own image classifier on the phone: no frame is stored, sent or logged. The picture you post carries the colour you chose, and we do not receive or store which filter you used. One filter is free for everyone; you can preview all of them, and saving or posting a picture with any other filter needs Nowly Plus.

Backups and logs

Deleting something removes it from the live service at once (or at the time stated above). Our hosting provider also keeps platform-level backups: the database can be restored to an earlier point for up to 30 days, the storage that holds lobby rooms has the same 30-day recovery, and service logs are kept for a short period and can contain request addresses. Data you deleted can remain in those backups and logs until they expire, and is not used for anything else in the meantime.

We do not sell your data and we never will. A few service providers process data on our behalf, and Apple handles the App Store:

Our hosting and network provider hosts our servers, database and photo storage, relays live lobby voice through its real-time network, and keeps short-lived service logs we use to fix faults, and platform backups (see Backups and logs). Your data is processed on its global network, which means it may be handled outside Bahrain and outside your own country.

Apple handles the App Store and payments for gold coins, under Apple's own privacy policy. If you are 18 or over and request a refund from Apple, you consent to us providing Apple with information about your use of that purchase (such as consumption and account tenure) to help Apple decide the request. We never send this information to Apple for anyone under 18. If you allow notifications, Apple also delivers push notifications to your phone, using your push token. Apple's map search on your phone also finds the places near you: for that search your phone sends your location to Apple, not to us.

Our email provider delivers the codes and sign-in alerts we email you (to confirm your email address, recover your account, or tell you a new phone signed in). It receives your email address and the message, nothing else. The alert emails it sends to our own team about a report or an appeal carry counts and a link only: no report note, caption or username, and not the name of the person who appealed.

Our email and workspace provider receives the messages you send to our support address, with any attachment you add. They are kept for as long as we need to answer you, and are deleted when you delete your account.

A password-check service receives only the short one-way fragment described in the table above, never your password and never your email address.

AI. No feature of Nowly currently sends your personal data to a third-party AI provider. Our team may use AI-assisted tools to gather public information about events and places; they do not receive your personal data. If a feature ever sends your data to a third-party AI provider, we will say so in this policy first, tell you what is sent, ask for your permission in the app before anything is sent, and require the provider not to use it to train its models or sell it.

Equal protection. We choose providers that commit, in their written terms, to protect your data at least as strongly as this policy does and to use it only to provide their service to us. We do not allow any provider to use it for its own purposes.

Other people see what you choose to share: your profile, your public moments, what you write in a lobby, and your name on gifts, ranks and lobby lines. We may disclose data if a Bahraini court or competent authority lawfully requires it, or where the law of another country in which we operate requires it. We provide only data we actually hold, and only what the order covers. See When the law requires it, below.

Payments

المدفوعات

Purchases inside the app — gold coins, a consumable currency — are processed by Apple. Apple tells us the transaction identifiers and the pack bought; it never gives us your card details. We do not store card numbers. Nowly Plus, the optional auto-renewable subscription, is bought through Apple in the same way. It costs $9.99 a month or $79.99 a year (the price in your own currency is shown before you confirm) and has no free trial. Payment is charged to your Apple Account, and the subscription renews automatically for the same period unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the period ends; you manage or cancel it in your Apple account settings (Settings, your name, Subscriptions), and deleting your Nowly account does not cancel it. Each paid month adds 1,500 gold coins to your wallet. Apple tells us whether it is active, its plan, whether it will renew and its period dates, and never gives us your card details. The full terms are in the Terms of Use, section 10A. Test purchases made in Apple's Sandbox by App Review and testers are not real payments: on reviewer and tester accounts they become a free grant of coins that lasts 7 days and gives no VIP level or XP; on any other account they are refused. If you are 18 or over and request a refund from Apple, you consent to us providing Apple with information about your use of that purchase (such as consumption and account tenure) to help Apple decide the request. We never send this information to Apple for anyone under 18. If you delete your account, we keep a minimal record of each purchase and refund where and for as long as the law or accounting rules require, for accounting, tax, fraud prevention and refunds: the transaction number, the pack, the gold coins, the price, the date, and whether it was a test purchase. It has no name, email, device or profile, only a coded number in place of your account that does not show who you are. Then it is deleted.

Your rights

Under Bahrain's Personal Data Protection Law (Law No. 30 of 2018) you may ask us to show you what we hold, correct it, or erase it. Much of this you can do yourself:

بموجب قانون حماية البيانات الشخصية في مملكة البحرين (القانون رقم 30 لسنة 2018)، يحقّ لك أن تطلب منا اطلاعك على البيانات التي نحتفظ بها، أو تصحيحها، أو محوها. ويمكنك القيام بكثير من ذلك بنفسك:

Change or clear your profile, birth year, gender and country from Settings.
غيّر أو امسح ملفك وسنة ميلادك وجنسك وبلدك من «الإعدادات».
Delete a moment — open its menu and choose Delete. The photo is removed from storage (if it has been reported, it is held as described under Reports).
حذف لحظة — افتح قائمتها واختر «حذف». وتُزال الصورة من التخزين (وإن كان قد بُلّغ عنها، تُمسك كما في «البلاغات»).
Delete your account — Settings, then Delete account. Deletion is always accepted, takes effect at once and cannot be undone. You confirm with a typed word and your password (or a very recent sign-in). Everything is deleted in one sweep: your profile, moments and pinned photos, messages, lobby, follows, places record, badges, notifications, sessions, lobby-time and location-check records, and your gold coin and purchase history in Nowly, and your photos are erased from storage. Unused gold coins and everything you own are lost with it. What can remain: child-safety evidence and the record made for the authorities in a child-safety case, without your name (see Reports); a minimal anonymous record of each purchase and refund, kept where and for as long as the law or accounting rules require (see Payments); Apple's own purchase records; short technical logs (up to 180 days); and copies in our hosting provider's backups until they expire (see Backups and logs). We keep no hashed email or device of a deleted account, except for an account that was banned or locked for safety (see below).

A copy of your data, or anything else — there is no export button in the app, so write to support@nowlyapp.com from the email address of your account and we will respond within the time the law sets (see Making a privacy request).

Nowly is not offered in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom; elsewhere, availability may vary by country. Wherever you are, the rights below apply on top of everything else in this policy.

Where your data is processed

Your data is processed on our hosting provider's global network, so it may be handled in countries other than the one you live in. When data leaves Bahrain we rely on the routes the Bahraini law allows: a country the Authority lists as giving adequate protection, the Authority's permission with safeguards such as a contract, or your consent where the law accepts it. We keep a record of the route for each provider.

Nowly is not offered in the European Economic Area (the 27 EU member states, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein) or in the United Kingdom, so the EU GDPR and the UK GDPR do not apply to our service today. If we offer Nowly in the United Kingdom, we will update this policy first, and people there will have these rights.

Nowly is operated from Bahrain, and Bahrain's Personal Data Protection Law (Law No. 30 of 2018) applies to everything we do. You may ask whether we process your data and for a copy of it, ask us to correct, block or erase it, and object to processing, including processing for direct marketing and processing that causes you damage. يُشغَّل Nowly من البحرين، ويسري قانون حماية البيانات الشخصية في مملكة البحرين (القانون رقم 30 لسنة 2018) على كل ما نقوم به. ولك أن تسأل هل نعالج بياناتك وأن تطلب نسخة منها، وأن تطلب تصحيحها أو حجبها أو محوها، وأن تعترض على المعالجة، ومنها المعالجة للتسويق المباشر والمعالجة التي تضرّك. ولك أن تشتكي إلى هيئة حماية البيانات الشخصية في مملكة البحرين. انظر «حقوقك» أعلاه و«تقديم طلب خصوصية» أدناه.

Some countries require personal data to be stored or handled locally or in a particular way. Nowly is not offered in China, Russia or Australia at launch. Where Nowly is offered, we follow the local rules that apply to us.

تشترط بعض البلدان تخزين البيانات الشخصية أو معالجتها محليًّا أو بطريقة معيّنة. ولا يُتاح Nowly في الصين ولا روسيا ولا أستراليا عند الإطلاق. وحيث يُتاح Nowly نلتزم بالقواعد المحلية التي تسري علينا.

Making a privacy request

تقديم طلب يتعلّق بالخصوصية

Write to support@nowlyapp.com from the email address of your account with "Privacy request" in the subject — for a copy of your data, a correction, a block, an erasure, an objection or any other request. We respond within the time the law sets. In Bahrain that is 15 working days to tell you whether we process your data and what we hold, and 10 working days to act on an objection or on a request to correct, block or erase. We check that the request comes from your account's email address; we never ask for an identity document. We keep a short record of each request (its kind, dates, outcome and your username) and delete it 365 days after it closes.

راسلنا عبر support@nowlyapp.com من البريد المسجّل في حسابك، واكتب «طلب خصوصية» في عنوان الرسالة — لنسخة من بياناتك، أو تصحيح، أو حجب، أو محو، أو اعتراض، أو أي طلب آخر. ونردّ خلال المدة التي يحدّدها النظام. وهي في البحرين 15 يوم عمل لنخبرك هل نعالج بياناتك وما الذي نحتفظ به، و10 أيام عمل لتنفيذ اعتراض أو طلب تصحيح أو حجب أو محو. ونتحقّق من أن الطلب صادر من بريد حسابك، ولا نطلب وثيقة هوية أبدًا. ونحتفظ بسجلّ قصير لكل طلب (نوعه ومواعيده ونتيجته واسم المستخدم) ونحذفه بعد 365 يومًا من إغلاقه.

Nowly is not for anyone under 16, in any country. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16. If you believe a child is using Nowly, report the account in the app or tell us at support@nowlyapp.com, and we will remove it.

Teens 16–17

For members aged 16 to 17, worked out from the birth year, four protections apply automatically, with nothing to switch on:

The place on your moments is shown only to your mutual friends. Everyone else sees the city at most, and you are not counted or shown among a place's regulars («Locals»), who is there now, on place pages or in nearby lists

Purchases go through Apple, where Family Sharing and Ask to Buy apply if the family uses them. Because we ask for the birth year only, these protections stay until 1 January after the year the member turns 18, then everything opens by itself.

وتتمّ المشتريات عبر Apple، وتسري فيها «مشاركة العائلة» و«طلب الشراء» إن كانت العائلة تستخدمهما. ولأننا لا نسأل إلا عن سنة الميلاد، تبقى هذه الحمايات حتى 1 يناير من السنة التي تلي بلوغ العضو 18 عامًا، ثم يُفتح كل شيء تلقائيًّا.

Hearts and couples. Couples items and heart lines are only for members aged 18 or over. Each partner ticks their own consent to show the line on their profile and in the lobby; the line goes live only with both ticks. Both ticks, with their times, are deleted when the line ends.

القلوب والثنائيات. عناصر الثنائي وخطوط القلوب لمن بلغوا 18 عامًا فأكثر فقط. ويؤشّر كل شريك بنفسه موافقته على إظهار الخط في ملفه وفي اللوبي، ولا يصير الخط حيًّا إلا بالتأشيرتين. وتُحذف التأشيرتان مع وقتيهما حين ينتهي الخط.

When the law requires it

حين يُلزمنا النظام

We may keep, preserve or hand over data we hold when a Bahraini court, the Public Prosecution or another competent authority lawfully requires it, or when the law of another country in which we operate requires it. This can include an order to preserve data, to hand it over, or to collect it while it happens. We act only on a lawful order, and we provide only what the order covers and what we actually hold. Where the law allows, we tell the person concerned; in some cases the law forbids us to. Nowly does not record lobby voice on its own, and if a lawful order ever requires something we do not do today, we will follow it as the law requires.

قد نحفظ بيانات نملكها، أو نصونها، أو نسلّمها، حين تُلزمنا بذلك محكمة بحرينية أو النيابة العامة أو جهة مختصة أخرى وفقًا للنظام، أو حين يُلزمنا بذلك نظام بلد آخر نعمل فيه. وقد يشمل ذلك أمرًا بصون البيانات، أو بتسليمها، أو بجمعها أثناء حدوثها. ولا نتصرف إلا بموجب أمر نظامي، ولا نقدّم إلا ما يشمله الأمر وما نملكه فعلًا. وحيث يسمح النظام نُخبر الشخص المعني؛ وفي بعض الحالات يمنعنا النظام من ذلك. ولا يسجّل Nowly صوت اللوبي من تلقاء نفسه، وإن ألزمنا أمر نظامي يومًا بما لا نفعله اليوم فسننفّذه كما يوجب النظام.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that affects you, we will say so in the app before the change takes effect, by reasonable means in the app. If you keep using Nowly after it takes effect, you accept it. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
