Why can't I post?

لماذا لا أستطيع النشر؟

Nowly only allows posting from inside a registered venue. If the app says you are not inside one, move closer to the place you picked, or pick a different one from the list. If more than two minutes passed since you took the shot, take a new one — that window is deliberate.

لا يسمح Nowly بالنشر إلا من داخل مكان مسجّل. فإذا أخبرك التطبيق بأنك لست داخل مكان مسجّل، فاقترب من المكان الذي اخترته، أو اختر مكانًا آخر من القائمة. وإذا مضى أكثر من دقيقتين على التقاط الصورة، فالتقط صورة جديدة — فهذه المهلة مقصودة.

Where did my post go?

أين ذهب منشوري؟

Moments disappear exactly 4 hours after they are made (a VIP member picks 4, 6, 12 or 24 hours for each one), and the photo is deleted then — unless it is held after a report. To keep one, pin it to your profile before the time runs out. You can keep up to 3 pinned, or up to 100 as a VIP member or with the Verified star. They stay until you delete them. If you drop out of VIP, your 3 most recent pinned photos stay and the rest are deleted from your profile and our servers. A public moment may also stay as the place's cover until a newer one is posted there.

Why is there no gallery button?

لماذا لا يوجد زرّ لمكتبة الصور؟

Because that absence is the product. If Nowly let you upload an old photo, nothing else about it would mean anything. That is the rule for moments. In a chat or a lobby you can also send one photo you pick with your phone's photo picker; it is checked like any other photo.

Can I post a video?

Yes, as a story. Hold the shutter to record 2 to 25 seconds, live, with sound. Like a photo, it is checked on your phone before it uploads, and it disappears after 4 hours (or the time a VIP member picks, up to 24). A video can't be pinned to your profile, and you can share up to 10 a day. With Low Data Mode or Nowly's data saver on, a video waits for a tap before it plays.

Can I see who follows someone?

هل يمكنني رؤية متابعي شخص ما؟

Only the count. The number of followers is public, but the list of followers belongs to its owner — nobody can read another person's list, and the list of who someone follows is private too. You can see your own. A private account shows people who do not follow it only the basics: name, photo, bio and followers count.

How do I delete my account?

كيف أحذف حسابي؟

Settings, then Delete account. Deletion is always accepted, takes effect at once and cannot be undone. We ask you to type a word and your password to confirm (or to have signed in very recently). Everything is deleted in one sweep: your profile, every moment and pinned photo, your messages, your lobby, your follows, your places record and your gold coin and purchase history in Nowly, and your photos are erased from our storage. Unused gold coins and items you own are lost with the account. Child-safety evidence, a record made for the authorities in a child-safety case, ban-evasion hashes for a banned or safety-locked account and short technical logs can remain, without your name, for the times set out in the Privacy Policy.

Does Nowly track my location?

هل يتتبّع Nowly موقعي؟

No. Your location is read only while Nowly is open — to check you are inside the venue when you post, to check you are at the place when you enter a location lobby, and to find what is near you when you open Near you. People see the place's name, never your location. We never store your coordinates or track you in the background. For each moment you post we keep the place and the day — the moment is already public — for your badges and the place's regulars, and it is deleted with your account. The app contains no background location code at all — see the Privacy Policy for the detail.

Who can see what I post?

Your mutual friends see your moments as stories. If your account is public, a public moment also counts for its place: it can appear on the place page, in the For you and Explore rankings, in your followers' Following feed and as a photo on the live map. If it is private, you are asked each time: everyone, or only the people you have accepted. Either way you still count towards the place's visitor number — you were there, and the trend counts people, not names. What changes is who sees the photograph.

Whose stories do I see?

Only your mutual friends' — people you follow who also follow you. A person's ring fades once you have seen all their stories. Tap for the next photo, swipe left or right for another person, swipe down to close, and swipe up to reply privately if they allow messages from you — otherwise their profile opens.

Can I see who viewed my story?

Yes. You see how many people viewed your story and who they are. Only you see this list — nobody else can see who viewed your story, or anyone else's.

What are For you, Following and Explore?

They are the three views on Home («Where people are today»), under the stories and «Happening now». For you uses your location once, when you open it, and shows the most photographed places within 30 km of you. Following shows the moments of the people you follow. Explore shows the top ten places in your country — or any country you pick — and in the world. The live map, one press away, shows where people took moments in the last 3 hours: places, never people, and never anyone's live location. Trending, Near you and Discover in the Lobbies tab do the same for lobbies.

Do likes last?

Everyone can see how many likes a moment has. Like the moment itself, they disappear with it (4 hours, or up to 24 for a VIP member's pick), so nothing piles up into a lifetime score.

Someone left a comment I don't want

Delete it. Under your own moment you can remove any comment, and you do not owe anyone a reason. If it broke the guidelines, report it as well so we see the account behind it.

What are lobbies?

ما هو اللوبي؟

Live rooms with text chat and voice, opened free by anyone — one lobby each. A lobby is public (anyone can enter, from anywhere), private (with a secret number) or a location lobby (for people at the place, plus VIP members, Nowly volunteers and the place's regulars from anywhere). Its owner can switch the kind at any time without losing anything. A place is busy when at least five different people have posted from it within two hours, and busy places show in their country's trend with their lobbies. If you arrive later you don't see earlier chat; lobby chat is kept 6 hours for moderation, then erased, and lobby photos go when the lobby closes or after 6 hours. Links can't be posted. If you leave the app while seated, the lobby keeps playing for up to one hour and your mic stays exactly as you left it — open or muted (iPhone shows its microphone indicator); a lock-screen card lets you mute the lobby, close your mic or leave. After an hour Nowly leaves the lobby for you. Nowly never uses your location in the background.

Why can't I join a lobby?

لماذا لا أستطيع دخول اللوبي؟

If it is a private lobby, you need its secret number from the owner. If it is a location lobby, you need to be at the place: your location is checked when you enter, and our server compares it with the place's boundary — so move inside the venue and try again, and make sure Nowly has location permission while in use, with Precise Location on or allowed when your phone asks. Once you're inside you stay, even if you move; if you leave and come back, it's checked again. VIP members, Nowly volunteers and the place's regulars can enter from anywhere. If a lobby's owner has removed you, you can't enter that lobby until the term ends (the app tells you how long is left) or the owner or an Admin pardons you; a ban lasts until it is lifted. Your account is fine, and every other lobby is open to you.

How does the mic work?

كيف يعمل المايك؟

A lobby has eight mics (its owner can take ten with the extra-mics plan, or twelve on the open Stage with the professional plan; the Majlis seats up to ten). If the stage is full, raise your hand to join the queue — when someone leaves the mic, the next person can take it. Nobody goes up to a mic without accepting, and nobody can turn on your mic but you. Everyone else listens and chats. Voice is live, relayed live over our network, and not recorded or stored by Nowly. Taking the mic needs microphone permission; listening does not. Your microphone is used only while your mic is on — also if you leave the app while seated, for up to an hour.

Someone in a lobby is being abusive

Tap their name and choose Report, then pick a reason. It works in any lobby. Your report reaches the Nowly team under your name, and they are never told who reported them. Their last 30 messages in that lobby, plus 20 messages around the one you reported for context, are kept with the report as evidence, even after the chat is deleted. If three different people report the same member within 30 minutes, they are muted in that lobby for 30 minutes. A report of child exploitation or harm hides their messages immediately and mutes them in that lobby for a day. Nobody is banned from Nowly automatically — people decide, within 24 hours. The lobby's owner and Admins can also warn, mute or remove them straight away.

Are private lobbies private from Nowly?

Not entirely. Lobbies, including private ones, may be reviewed by the Nowly team, who can enter any lobby for safety and to check reports. Every such entry is logged.

Who are the Admins and the volunteers?

A lobby's Admins are named by its owner to help run that lobby — up to ten, and the owner can remove them at any time. Their decisions in that lobby, like the owner's, are final: there is no appeal to Nowly about being removed or muted in someone's lobby. Nowly volunteers are appointed by the Nowly team, often from people who spend a lot of time in lobbies — which is why the app counts how long you spend in lobbies each day (a daily total, never what you say). A volunteer accepts a written charter first and carries Nowly's team mark. They can enter public and location lobbies from anywhere, mute someone for 10 minutes in an emergency, and wipe a message that breaks the rules — at most 20 actions an hour. They cannot remove, ban or warn, have no powers in private lobbies, every action is logged and reviewed, and breaking the charter removes the role.

What are Occasions and Events?

Occasions are moments the Nowly team opens for a country or several — a national day, a season — and Events are things like a concert, a match or a festival. They show under «Happening now» on Home, with the places that are busiest and the moments from them. A photo you post at a place can count for an Occasion as well. Some are visible to everyone and some only to the countries they are for. Joining is free.

What are the Majlis, hospitality and wearables?

The Majlis is the lobby's default seating, with up to ten seats around a table; the open Stage is the other layout, and the Owner or an Admin can switch between them. The Owner picks one of five Majlis looks, free. Hospitality is a set — coffee and dates, tea, a dessert, even a large feast — served by someone on a mic to anyone present, and kept on the table for 10 minutes. A wearable sits on someone's photo in a lobby for 10 minutes, and the wearer can take it off with a long press. They are cosmetic, bought with gold coins, and change nothing about who can speak or hear.

Does Nowly keep playing when I leave the app?

Only the lobby you are sitting in, and only for up to an hour. Your mic stays as you left it — open or muted — and iPhone shows its microphone indicator while it is open. A card on the lock screen lets you mute the lobby, close your mic or leave, and after an hour Nowly leaves for you. Nothing else runs in the background, and your location is never used there.

Moments 4 hours (VIP members choose up to 24); chat photos 24 hours, and a view-once photo goes when it is opened; messages and voice messages seven days; lobby chat and lobby photos about 6 hours; reports 30 days after the decision (two years for child-safety cases, one year for intimate images without consent); sign-in sessions up to 180 days, with the city and country of the sign-in. One, and it is optional: Nowly Plus, bought through Apple at $9.99 a month or $79.99 a year, with no free trial. It renews automatically unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the period ends; you manage or cancel it in your Apple account settings (Settings, your name, Subscriptions). Each paid month adds 1,500 gold coins. Plus gives you the full visitors list, incognito browsing and quiet entry, every lobby look except the gold ones, editing and deleting your messages and hiding «seen», chat wallpapers, your stats, favourites, early access to new store sets, more pinned chats, longer voice notes, and saving or posting pictures with the camera's colour filters (one filter is free). If it ends, these stop and everything else stays. Everything else in Nowly stays free, and there is no advertising. Gold coins are a consumable currency with no cash value and can never be cashed out. Full terms are in the Terms (section 10A) and Gold coins & In-App Purchases.

Can I see who visited my profile?

Yes, as far as your account allows. Nowly records which account opened a profile and on what day. Without VIP or Nowly Plus you see how many people visited and roughly when (today, yesterday, this week or earlier), but not who. With VIP you see the names of visitors who are not VIP themselves; with Nowly Plus you see everyone, with 90 days of history instead of 30. Visits are kept for 30 days (90 on a Plus subscriber's profile), nobody is notified of a visit, and a Plus subscriber can browse in incognito so their own visits are not recorded. Visits by or to anyone under 18 are never recorded. In the same way, the owner of a profile you open may see that you visited, depending on their plan.

Can I edit or delete a message I sent?

Anyone can delete a message for everyone within 15 minutes of sending it (not a gift, and not once it has been reported), or hide any message just for themselves. With Nowly Plus you can also edit a written message within 15 minutes, delete it for everyone for up to 24 hours, and hide «seen» so the other person is not shown when you have read their messages. The other person sees only that a message was edited or deleted. Please know that we keep the earlier written text with the message (until it goes, seven days after sending) so that a report can be judged on what was really written; it is not shown in the app, and if the message is reported, it is kept with the report. Can I play music in a lobby?

Only a lobby's Owner and its Admins, and only songs from the Files app on their own phone, while they sit on a mic. The song goes out live from their phone, like their voice: Nowly does not upload, record or store it. The room shows its title and artist while it plays. You are responsible for having the rights to what you play. Anyone in the lobby can report a song («Song issue» under «Report the lobby»), and the Owner, an Admin or the Nowly team can stop it at any moment. Do the camera filters send my photo anywhere?

No. The colour filters work entirely on your phone and change colour and tone only. We do not receive or keep which filter you used; the picture you post just carries its colour. One filter is free for everyone, you can preview all of them, and saving or posting a picture with another one needs Nowly Plus.

When someone sends you a gift, 10% of its value reaches you as Jewels, a second balance beside your gold coins. You cannot buy Jewels, and they have no cash value: they cannot be cashed out, sold, transferred or turned into gold coins. What is VIP?

A standing you earn — never a subscription. There are two ladders. Your level, 1 to 100, grows with what you do on Nowly: being here, listening, talking on a mic, posting moments, hearts and gifts. VIP has ten tiers, reached by spending gold coins you actually paid for (free coins, gifts you receive and pack bonuses don't count; buying a pack alone raises nothing); each tier has a period, and you keep it by spending its keep amount within that period — otherwise, after 7 days' grace, you step down one tier. Above VIP 10 is Al-Dana, by invitation from Nowly only. From VIP 1 you choose how long your moments live (4, 6, 12 or 24 hours), pin up to 100 photos (everyone else: 3), enter location lobbies from anywhere, get your tier's entrance and name finish, and higher tiers add more. The thresholds and perks are in the app. VIP never moves you higher in any feed or exempts you from any rule. Accounts with the Verified star show the star only.

Gold coins, themes and everything you own belong to your Nowly account, not to your phone. Sign in on the new phone with your username or email and password, and they are there.

On the sign-in screen tap «Forgot password?», type your username or email address, and we email a 6-digit code to the address on your account. Enter it, choose a new password, and you are in. Every other phone signed in to your account is signed out.

It opens wherever you are — somebody in the Emirates should see the Emirates, not scroll past somewhere else to find it. Every country has its own trend — up to ten busy places — and the world has one too. Every country's trend is free for everyone — switch country to see any other.

How do I change my username?

Profile, then Edit profile. It can move once every 30 days. People find you by it, and a handle that turns over weekly leaves abandoned names for somebody else to take and impersonate you with.

Usernames of 5 to 30 characters are free to choose, and every username starts with an English letter. Standout usernames — 1 to 4 characters, or one letter repeated — are sold only inside the app, with gold coins, once each; buying one is allowed at any time. Nobody sells them outside the app — if someone offers you one, it isn't from us.

Why am I getting so few notifications?

لماذا تصلني إشعارات قليلة؟

By design. If you allow them, Nowly sends notifications to your phone (it asks after your first moment or follow); each one carries a username and what happened, never the text of a message. They also wait for you in the app's notifications. Things about you — a follower, a like, a comment — are on. Activity elsewhere, like a place you watch getting busy, is off until you turn it on. Settings, then Notifications. We would rather send you nothing than teach you to ignore us.

Who can message me?

By default, only people you follow who also follow you. If you like, you can open your messages to everyone in Settings, then Privacy — then a first message from someone you don't follow each other with waits in Message requests, text only, until you accept it. If you stop following someone while your messages are for friends only, they can no longer write — you do not have to block them or explain. Links can't be sent in messages.

Messages and voice messages disappear after seven days, and chat photos after 24 hours (a view-once photo goes as soon as it has been opened). The conversation stays in your list so you can open it and write again.

Somebody sent me something bad

Report the message, then unfollow or block. Reporting keeps it until 30 days after our decision so we can read it. You can hide a message you received just for yourself, but you cannot delete it for everyone — that is on purpose: it needs to still exist when you report it.

How does the app know when a place gets busy?

From the visits themselves. Every time somebody posts from a venue that counts, and over weeks a shape appears — this cafe fills at half past nine on a Thursday, this one is quiet on Mondays.

من الزيارات نفسها. ففي كل مرة ينشر فيها أحد من مكان ما، تُحتسب زيارته، ومع مرور الأسابيع يتّضح نمط معيّن — هذا المقهى يمتلئ في التاسعة والنصف من يوم الخميس، وذاك يكون هادئًا أيام الاثنين.

If a place says "not enough visits here yet", that is the honest answer rather than a guess. It needs at least three separate days before it will predict anything.

What is "Local"?

Shoot from the same venue on 15 different days within 30 days and you become one of its regulars, for 15 days. A day counts once, however many photos you take in it. In Settings, under Privacy, you choose place by place whether it shows on that place's page or stays yours alone. It is free, it is earned by turning up, and it says you know a place — not that you rank above anybody. Regulars can also enter that place's location lobby from anywhere.

Other badges are earned the same way, most in three levels — for example Explorer (10, 50 and 150 different places), Traveller (3, 7 and 15 countries), Loyal (30, 100 and 365 days in a row on Nowly) and Pioneer (first to post from a place 50, 200 and 1,000 times). The app lists every badge and what it takes. They show on your profile. Only one badge ever shows next to your name: the Verified star, which the Nowly team gives to celebrities and to people who have become well known in Nowly, after checking their identity. The gold name comes with VIP 4 and above; it is not a badge, and it does not mean verified.

How do I get the Verified star?

Two ways. If you are a celebrity, write to support@nowlyapp.com about the account you want verified, with its Nowly username. Or become well known in Nowly itself — people who build a large following here are considered too. There is no fixed number; the team looks at each case. The Nowly team grants the star only after checking the account, records the reason, and can remove it the same way. It is never sold. Nowly volunteers can suggest someone, but they cannot grant it. The star also lifts your pinned-photo limit to 100. Do not send identity documents; Nowly does not ask for them.

Bought gold coins don't expire; free ones — the daily ones and most alliance rewards — last 14 days and are spent first. When someone sends you a gift, 10% of its value reaches you as Jewels, a second balance that has no cash value, can be spent on anything sold for gold coins and never counts towards VIP. What are profile themes?

10 signature themes, each in four or five colours and priced in gold coins, and you see the price before you buy. You own a theme forever, choose its colour, and can change the colour for free. Three more signatures are for VIP members only and are never sold. A theme is the only thing that colours your name — everywhere — and it decorates your photo and your story ring. Your lobby has its own, separate look. Preview it on your profile before you buy. The free Nowly theme colours your name in Nowly's colour in your profile header only.

Each gift shows its price in gold coins before you send it. You can send one to anyone with a public account, and you choose who can send gifts to you: everyone, friends, or nobody. A gift is a thank-you — it never changes where moments appear, and it is never a real-world item. The receiver gets the gift and 10% of its value as Jewels, never money. Gifts in a lobby count, openly, towards alliance goals and the Face-off score, and a legendary gift in a public lobby also shows as a card in other busy public lobbies.

لكل هدية سعرها بالقطع الذهبية، وتراه قبل أن ترسلها. ويمكنك إرسالها لأيّ حسابٍ عامّ، وتختار أنت ممّن تصلك الهدايا: من الجميع، أو من أصدقائك، أو من لا أحد. والهدية شكرٌ فحسب — لا تغيّر أبدًا موضع ظهور اللحظات، وليست شيئًا ماديًّا. ويصل المستلمَ الهديةُ و10٪ من قيمتها جواهر، لا نقودًا. والهدايا في اللوبي تُحسب، علنًا، في أهداف التحالف ونتيجة «واجهني»، والهدية الأسطورية في لوبي عام تظهر أيضًا بطاقةً في لوبيات عامة أخرى مزدحمة.

Probably because it contained a link. Links aren't allowed in anything you write — captions, bios, comments, messages, lobby chat, or a lobby's bio or rule — to protect people from scams.

A way to plan an outing and tell friends where you are heading. Pick a place and a time, up to 5 days ahead; people you follow who follow you back see it and can join. The plan disappears three hours after its time.

What is Face-off, and what are alliances?

Face-off is one lobby against another, for laughs and pride: gifts count for your side, and playful throws land on the other side's square, never on a person. Alliances are groups of up to 30 with weekly goals; every Sunday the top three get back 5%, 3% and 2% of the week's spend as free gold coins (valid 14 days, capped per person; the share that comes from coins you paid for and spent there lasts 30 days and counts towards VIP). Starting an alliance costs 1,000 gold coins, once; joining is free. Taking part is free, the rules are fixed and published in the app, and there is no betting, no chance and no cash.

«واجهني» لوبي في مواجهة لوبي، للضحك والفخر: الهدايا تُحسب لجانبك، والرميات المرحة تقع على مربّع الطرف الآخر، لا على شخص. والتحالفات مجموعات حتى 30 عضوًا بأهداف أسبوعية، وكل أحد يسترجع الثلاثة الأوائل 5٪ و3٪ و2٪ من صرف الأسبوع قطع ذهبيةٍ مجانية (صالحة 14 يومًا، بسقف لكل شخص؛ وحصة ما دفعت ثمنه وصرفته هناك تدوم 30 يومًا وتُحسب في VIP). وتأسيس تحالف يكلّف 1000 قطعة ذهبية مرة واحدة، والانضمام مجاني. والمشاركة مجانية، والقواعد ثابتة ومنشورة في التطبيق، بلا رهان ولا حظّ ولا نقود.

My account was paused or locked

أُوقف حسابي أو قُفل

Photos the check on your phone refuses add up over 30 days: a notice, a reminder, posting paused for 24 hours, then for 7 days, then the account is locked for review. The check can be wrong, so you can ask for a review from the app — a person reads it and answers inside Nowly within 48 hours, and if the check was wrong the step comes off your record. You can choose to send one photo with the request; only the team sees it, and it is deleted 30 days after the decision.

الصور التي يرفضها الفحص على جوالك تتراكم خلال 30 يومًا: تنبيه، ثم تذكير، ثم إيقاف النشر 24 ساعة، ثم 7 أيام، ثم يُقفل الحساب للمراجعة. والفحص قد يخطئ، فتستطيع طلب المراجعة من التطبيق — يقرؤها شخص ويردّ عليك داخل Nowly خلال 48 ساعة، وإن كان الفحص مخطئًا تُرفع الخطوة من سجلّك. ولك أن تختار إرسال صورة واحدة مع الطلب؛ لا يراها إلا الفريق، وتُحذف بعد 30 يومًا من القرار.
